Applications for grants from the Kent Archaeological Society’s Allen Grove Local History Fund must be submitted by 31 March 2012.
One of the county’s most eminent historians of his generation, Allen Grove left a legacy to be used to promote the enjoyment of Kent’s local history. The grants are awarded annually to individuals and groups, with sums of up to £500 (more for ‘exceptional projects’) available to help cover the cost of research, publications, exhibitions and other projects.
The latest grants were awarded to people working on: cataloguing and digitising a collection of items connected with the history of St Margaret’s, near Dover; a book on the history of Ditton; and a history of Warners, solicitors of Tonbridge. Application forms for this year can be down-loaded from www.kent archaeology.org.uk or by sending a sae to the KAS’s Hon General Secretary, Peter Stutchbury, at Lympne Hall, Lympne, Hythe CT21 4LQ.
